Job Summary
TalentWise is seeking skilled CNC Prototyping Machinist to join our team.
This role will be responsible for CNC programming, process development, and machining, and requires working with engineers and designers to prototype ideas from start to finish with ownership of the entire process. Our products utilize a variety of materials (from plastics to hard metals) and processes and the CNC Prototyping Machinist will either be familiar and experienced with these technologies or able to quickly get up to speed on new technologies.
The prototyping facility includes advanced 5- and 3-axis CNC machine tools, 5-axis water-jet cutting, and manual machine tools. The CNC Prototyping Machinist is responsible for the safe setup, operation and maintenance of this equipment, including tooling and fixture specification and procurement.
The machinist will work closely with mechanical engineering and industrial design teams to solve design and manufacturing issues. We move fast and are looking for a person who is driven to find fast, efficient ways to go from CAD models to finished parts in real materials on complex geometries and compressed timelines.
Responsibilities
- Oversee CAM programming and operations of all CNC and Manual Machining Equipment
- CNC Machine complex geometries components in both metal and plastics
- Interact with design engineers on part functionality and advice on part suitability for machining
- Meet time and schedules for assigned work
- Perform non-CNC tasks when necessary: Non-cnc equipment operation. Hand-work operations, saw-cut operations. etc.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a prototyping environment with advanced CNC machine tools
- Experience with multi-axis, multi-channel turning centers
- Experience with CAM software and CNC programming (Fusion 360, HyperMill, NX)
- Experience with CAD software and fixture design (Fusion 360, NX, Solidworks).
- Experience with being self-driven and autonomous and experience participating in a range of needs in the shop.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 5-axis milling equipment and pallet system management.e in ultra-precision manufacturing for optics, aerospace, or medical device industries.
- Experience with picking up software used in designing and building things.
- Experience being a problem solver.
- Experience with DFM (design for manufacturing).
- Experience outsourcing for manufacturing.
- Firm understanding of CNC programs including formatting and editing.
- Experience with complete ownership of scheduling, execution, and final delivery of prototyping tasks.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods standing and working on machinery.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
