Job Title: Laser Technician

TalentWise is a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laser Technician to join our team. The Laser Technician will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser machines to cut, engrave, and process materials according to precise specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate laser cutting and engraving machines to process materials such as metals, plastics, and composites according to technical specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and work orders to determine machine settings and operations.
- Adjust machine settings, including laser power, speed, and focus, to optimize cutting or engraving processes.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Perform precision measurements using tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions.
- Identify and address any defects or inconsistencies in the laser cutting or engraving process.
- Programming:
- Develop and modify laser machine programs using CAD/CAM software.
- Input design files and ensure accurate laser paths and cutting patterns.
- Troubleshoot programming and machine issues as needed to ensure optimal machine performance.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on laser machines, including cleaning lenses, replacing filters, and aligning lasers.
- Troubleshoot and repair machine issues to minimize downtime and ensure continued operation.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and machine performance.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines when operating laser machines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the work area is safe and organized.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of machine settings, production runs, and inspection results.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, quality issues, or production delays to the supervisor.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and improve laser processes.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in laser technology, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating and programming laser cutting or engraving machines.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and laser control systems.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of laser cutting/engraving principles and technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- High attention to detail and precision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Certifications:
- Certification in laser safety and operation (e.g., Certified Laser Operator) is desirable but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods standing and working on machinery.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
