Job Title: Additive Specialist (3D Printed Electronics)

Location: Redmond, WA

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

TalentWise is seeking an Additive Specialist to support research and development of 3D printed circuit boards (3D-PCBs) using advanced additive manufacturing systems. This hands-on role focuses on the setup, calibration, and optimization of multi-material additive equipment to enable rapid prototyping of electronic components and assemblies.

The ideal candidate enjoys experimentation, iteration, and close collaboration with design and electrical engineering teams. Experience with 3D printed electronics or Nano Dimension DragonFly IV systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Prototype Development & Experimentation

  • Operate and refine additive systems for printing multilayer circuit structures using conductive and dielectric materials.
  • Develop and test new print parameters, material combinations, and process sequences for improved electrical performance and reliability.
  • Translate design concepts and eCAD data (Gerber, ODB++, Excellon, STL, OBJ) into functional 3D printed prototypes.
  • Support early-stage prototyping, proof-of-concept builds, and iterative design revisions.

System Operation & Maintenance

  • Maintain and calibrate additive printing equipment to ensure consistent, high-resolution performance.
  • Handle conductive and dielectric inks, perform printhead maintenance, and monitor material usage.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to layer adhesion, trace resolution, or dielectric performance.

Process Characterization & Optimization

  • Conduct design-of-experiments (DOE) studies to improve print quality, conductivity, and mechanical integrity.
  • Collaborate with materials and process engineers to document key process parameters and outcomes.
  • Provide feedback on system capabilities, limitations, and potential upgrades.

Collaboration & Technical Support

  • Work cross-functionally with electrical engineers, designers, and fabrication teams to align      prototyping capabilities with project goals.
  • Assist in transferring successful R&D processes into small-scale production or pilot lines.
  • Communicate findings, challenges, and improvements through written reports and technical presentations.

Documentation & Training

  • Maintain process logs, test results, and experiment data.
  • Contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training documentation.
  • Support onboarding and training of new users on additive systems and software.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or  equivalent experience.

Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, printed electronics, or advanced      prototyping environments.
  • Experience with 3D printed circuit boards or multi-material inkjet systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with Nano Dimension DragonFly IV or similar systems is a plus.
  • Exposure to electronic design tools and PCB manufacturing processes beneficial.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of conductive and dielectric material properties.
  • Familiarity with eCAD/CAD workflows and data formats used in electronics manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced R&D lab with evolving priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hands-on equipment maintenance.
  • Extended periods of standing and fine-motor work under microscopes or system enclosures.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage ($40 - $60/ Hour)
  • 100% Paid Health, Dental, and Vision
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Provided
  • Company Profit Sharing Plan
  • Paid Time Off + Holidays
  • Opportunities for professional development and training
