Job Summary
TalentWise is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior CNC Machinist to join our team and be on site with one of our customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components. The Senior CNC Machinist will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our machining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate advanced CNC machines, (Yasda, Hermle and Haas).
- Operate a wide range of manual and CNC equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) to fabricate complex parts to exact specifications.
- Use CAM software (such as Fusion 360, Hypermill, etc) to develop and optimize toolpaths for precision machining.
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings and 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, Fusion) models with a strong understanding of GD&T and tight tolerance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to fabricate prototypes and early-stage hardware components.
- Provide design feedback and recommendations for manufacturability and material selection.
- · Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness in all machining and fabrication tasks.
- Lead shop process improvements, support tooling strategies, and help mentor junior machinists as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in precision machining, including CNC programming, setup, and operation.
- Experience with Yasda and/or Hermle CNC machines, including programming and high-precision machining.
- Strong knowledge of materials including aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, engineering plastics, and composites.
- Demonstrated expertise working in prototyping or R&D environments where speed, accuracy, and adaptability are essential.
- Solid understanding of CAM software workflows.
- Solid understanding of 5 axis simultaneous machining (live 5).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industries such as consumer electronics, aerospace, medical devices, or advanced manufacturing.
- Familiarity with 5-axis machining, EDM, or hybrid manufacturing technologies.
- Exposure to rapid prototyping tools (3D printing, laser cutting, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot fabrication challenges independently and suggest creative, efficient solutions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods standing and working on machinery.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
